Portland: The Water Never Tasted So Good

Well, NAB has ended and the masses (estimated at over 100,000) are streaming home to their bases. I’m really glad I came overall. I got to see some truly amazing technology, meet some interesting and talented people, and see Vegas for the first time up close. It feels like I’m trying to process the Matrix itself, or something.

It’s not somewhere I would choose to vacation; the very air outside reeked of cigarette smoke (everybody seems to smoke here) and the “non-smoking” room we had at the Circus Hotel was nothing of the sort. (Side note: A terrible hotel. There was no soap. And there’s clowns everywhere, adding to my nightmares. Bill & Doug: I am grateful for having a place to stay, so thank you. =).

It was also my first dining experience at In-N-Out. If you want a cheap, tasty burger, it’s hard to beat. Good shakes, too.

Ok, friends & family, I won’t be offended if you pause here. The next few posts will be about very geeky work-related stuff. Industry dudes & dudettes, stay tuned!

With my busy life, who knows if I’ll get to finish writing up my stuff? There are so many different areas I’m involved with professionally now, it’s hard not to want to do it all. But the old NAB’ers will tell you: “Son, ya jest gotta pick yer groups, and stick to them thar neighborhoods”.

Up next: Hot video equipment; photos from the surviving family iPhone; bleeding-edge worship software; freaks, geeks, and suits; and no, Allan’s not going to shut up about Final Cut Server.

Clowns with no soap. There’s nothing worse than stinky clowns. I’m glad you survived the trauma.
