As I was riding through downtown this morning, on my way to work, I passed the Benson Hotel where he was about to exit en route to his speech at the Memorial Coliseum in NE Portland.

I have one of his books (Audacity of Hope); I didn’t want to be late to work and so didn’t wait to see him. I was late anyway, thanks to a MAX train breakdown (or a plot from Hillary’s operatives! Who knows...).
There was a small crowd waiting to see him, with lots of security and helicopters overhead and such. Portland is a predominantly Democratic stronghold, but there are a lot of Obamagonians here - of all political stripes - who are excited about his campaign.
I’ve avoided discussing politics on this blog. The medium of the Internet seems fraught with so much polemic bile; it’s truly hard to have a reasonable discussion about politics (or religion, for that matter). I think about it a lot, though. I enjoy discussing it. I may write more about my thoughts in the future - I really need to fork this blog into several little ones (faith, work, life, etc.) I need more time to write to really do justice to those topics. We’ll see.
At any rate, break a leg, Barack!
