Of Movie Trailers, Final Cut, and Iron Man

I find this kind of thing fascinating. Ever see a movie trailer, watch the film later, and go, “hey! That wasn’t in the movie!”? Well, that kind of thing happens all the time, apparently. Witness the difference between trailer 1 and trailer 2 (both here):

Click through to see the frames larger. They’re both great, though clearly the lighter one is more detailed, and was made to fit in whatever scene it’s in seamlessly. The first one was probably a mock-up shot for an early look, to get financing (the first scene in Matrix was done to get financing), or just for the first trailer.

They both look awesome. I prefer the dark one. I know, I’m obsessed. Want to come watch it with me when it’s released?
