Live video test with ProPresenter

One hallmark of quality software development teams is producing Real Functioning Builds early and often. I had a pretty dark day with ProPresenter on Tuesday - a video crash in front of 700 area pastors and, more importantly, my boss. It’s enough to question all ones’ experience, choices, and sanity.

I got a note today that there was a new seed for beta testers - guys like me who like to live on the bleeding edge. Sometimes you get new features, sometimes bug fixes, in this case, there were both. The DVD Clips feature I tested as hard as I could, and found no mission-critical bugs with it. Don’t go and change screen sizes on it while playing or anything, but it does seem to work properly and smoothly now.

This photo sums up some of the new Newness:

Basically, what has historically taken an entire video truck can now* be done on a laptop. Worship experiences just got another powerful tool with the addition of live video - which I can composite not only live lyrics over, but images and video with transparency. This means I can add a lower third, stylized frame, or other effect over the video. It composites cleanly and I notice no performance hit on the laptop. Supposedly things perform even better with Leopard, which I’m looking at.
*Ok, there’s some things you need a truck for, but for very basic stuff, this does the job of a Grass Valley or Edirol video switcher. This is the future, folks!

Since my first early look at ProPresenter 3, I’ve been nothing but impressed. If you’re looking to enhance the worship experience at your church - and have fun doing it - look no further. ProPresenter 3 is the best worship media tool on any platform available today. It beats the pants off MediaShout in simplicity (sometimes less is truly more), usability, stability (!), and performance.

Have you found any remotes that work well with ProPresenter 3?

Thanks
