King Connor of the Backyard

image

Earlier this Summer I shot a few snaps of Connor after church - the kids had made little crowns of paper in class. Connor loved his and it sat in a place of honor on the globe over the fireplace for a good month or so.

Paintings and images of kings throughout history often include objects or symbols of their reign. In these images, we see a few of King Connor’s. The Blue Blankie has been his since birth, and has gone with him everywhere (until just recently). The woven basket (made in Africa, and a present to Mommy) always contains his objects of veneration: trains (at the time) and these days, Hot Wheels (it must say Hot Wheels, none other will do).

King Connor displays these with pride and complete confidence - note now his Blue Blankie is draped over his arm in the first image, like a kingly robe woven with great care by royal craftsmen.

Long live The King!
