I’m doing a lot more presentation design these days. In the past, I always denigrated it, mostly because the dominant toolset was PowerPoint, which encourages speakers to use mind-deadening devices like bullet points and 3D pie charts (with textures!). These days, with programs like Keynote, presentation tools help designers - and regular folk - create great-looking stuff that actually communicates. Sometimes, even with emotion.
Garr Reynolds, a local presentation designer, takes on the pie chart. If you haven’t read his blog, Presentation Zen, and you present stuff, have a look.
