I like to try and schedule post-production renders for evenings and weekends when I won’t be needing the machine. On arrival this Monday morning, Final Cut said this:

Uhh… One the one hand, I’m impressed that the coders of Final Cut actually took the time to have the dialog say “five weeks” instead of “840 hours”. Sad that they have to address that scenario, though.
I think it was trying to render some other open timelines (it does this after a set interval). Compressor 3 is really, really slow for encoding to iPod-friendly H.264 videos - we may have to look at some other products for that. Weird. I thought that the days of the Render Wander™ were over, with all these fancy workstations we have.
