A Quick Site Note: CoComments Disabled

I don’t know if anyone’s noticed - except my wife, who I can always count on for comments - but there was a little “CoComment” toolbar underneath the comment box on posts. I use CoComment to track my conversations across the blogosphere. It’s a great concept, and you can see the result of it over on my Conversations page.

However, like many Web 2.x startups, their revenue model isn’t exactly clear. They’ve had problems (keeping my one reader from posting) and now they’re showing ads in the teeny box. Well, thank you very much, but goodbye. I don’t want ads of any kind on my personal blog.

I wrote a few responses there in the comments.

Takeaway point: services like these are going to rise and fall. Some are already predicting the demise of white-hot Twitter: it all comes down to sustainability. The concepts may live on, but being first doesn’t always mean you’ll be the last one standing.
